[Elecraft] Knobs (again!)

Mike,
What people have said about the knob diameter is correct, it is too big.
However, I have what appears to be the EXACT same knob on my K2 (procured
via a different means), and it works great. To make it work I just used a
thin piece of brass shim stock (bought mine at the local hobby shop), and
wrapped it around the encoder shaft. That provided enough extra size that
the knob was easily able to be put on without any slippage. The outside
diameter of the knob is a tad large as well, but not objectionable in my
opinion, not really covering up any labels or LCD annunciators (YMMV). For
me, having a slightly larger knob with some sort of a dimple has proven to
be an improvement.
There are actually 3 of us K2 owners at our company (3 hams in one
department, how do we ever get any of our real work done? ;o) ) who have all
performed this knob mod with good results. So, in case you or any others on
the list are still looking to find a way to use this knob I wanted to pass
this on...
