Hi All,
First let me say the K2 has been the best learning exp. for me in ham radio.
I read the reflector EVERYDAY without fail, and learn somethin new.
I have been getting into CW more and more. I really seem to like it. But I
have some questions about the accuracy of my freq. and using WWV.
I have felt that on sideband my freq. seems to be about 20 hz off,,,no big
deal. I have a ft 990 and an Icom 765 that I've used to check by tuning into
a qso and then swithing to the K2. ( a station on let's say 3936.00 sounds
about the same as that station on 3935.98 on the K2.)
Well checking my freq. against WWV, this is what I did...put into memory
channel in the K2. 9999.40 Usb ..and 10000.60 Lsb. ( I did this on my
ft990 and swithing vfo's the tone sounds exactly the same ...600hz)
On the K2 it sounded off....what sounded correct was...approx. 9999.32 Usb
and 10000.53 Lsb on the K2 (if I tune to 10000.00 Cw mode and use my spot
func. 9999.91 sounds about zero beat.)
another test I did was to key the K2 in the Hand posistion and tuning in the
rec. signal on the ft990 and with the display on the K2 reading 21.120.00 C
zero beating the signal on the 990 reads 21.120.13 C (which seems to be the
difference when you add the discrepecies between the WWV signals I got.
I guess my question is this: Is the freq. (c22) off by 130 hz ??? if so,
why does it only seem to be 20 hz on sideband??
thanks for any help, sorry if this is elementary but I never really
understood even how to ZERO BEAT a signal until the great ELECRAFT
experience.
