[Elecraft] calibrating K2 S meter - strange behaviour

I am building my K2, and am on the RF board's "Alignment and Test, Part
1". I am seeing some odd behaviour trying to set CAL S HI. I set CAL S
HI as described, until bargraph segment 10 just lights, and exit the
menu. If I now turn RF gain all the way down, segment 8 is lit, instead
of segment 10 (segments 1 through 8 all light in sequence as I vary the
RF gain).

Even stranger: 
- turn RF gain all the way down; segment 8 is lit
- enter the menu
- scroll through the menu items until I get to "ATU --"
- now segment 10 is lit (and segment 8 is off); it stays this way if I
continue to scroll through the menu items
- as soon as I exit the menu, it goes back to segment 8 being lit (and
segment 10 off)

Does anyone know what is going on?
