I would say that they have done something inexpensive. That's what
their amps are. There are many "short cuts" taken to put out a
commercial product at that price level, and still maintain a business
that takes in more money than goes out. You want a no corners cut
anywhere amp, then go buy an Alpha 87A for $6,500 plus shipping.

Now if amp builders wanted to go an Elecraft route and put out a KIT
for Ameritron kinds of prices, where WE supply the labor, we would
have a different deal.

Kludge?

One of the beauties of the K2 is that it has evolved into a very
sophisticated device by a series of well-engineered "kludges". And
CONTINUES to evolve. I'd rather call them upgrades.

Someone else put me on to a write-up on the website that says that the
delay from 8R change to hot RF is 15-20 milliseconds. The article was
dated Feb 16, 2000. Is this still true with a current factory K2 four
years later?
