[Elecraft] K2: Has anybody seen this one?

I am at the point where I am supposed to have a 40m receiver... I don't. I
find that after exiting  menu operation the switched 8V (8R from the control
board is turned off). I can turn it back on by tapping MENU and advancing
the selection to ATU, at which point it will turn on and remain on as I
advance the menu selection through the entire menu. The instant I leave the
MENU 8R turns off and the rx is dead....

I have checked for any solder inconsistency on the control board, I find no
bridges, I paid particular attention to Q1,Q2,Q3, and Q4, the MCU, and P2 to
the RF board. This has to be a firmware decision, but what is causing it?
The "trigger" causes an audible "pop" in the headphones and a momemtary
removal of 8R when moving from OPT PERF to ATU as I am cycling thru the menu
selections.
