Using our DMM in diode mode, you should find a diode junction between the
base and collector and a diode junction between the base and the emitter.
Since Q6 is an NPN transistor, the base of the transistor will act as the
anode (positive terminal) for both diode junctions.

could someone remind me how to check with a diode meter that Q6 has a high
probability of being good out of the circuit.  I know this was discussed
earlier but have misplaced.......It turns out that my U1 is bad and the
buzzing sound was originating from this chip.  Will be next week before I
receive a replacement.
