Bob,

I'm glad that you got it working - that was a tough one.
The bottom line message here is that soldering is one of the frequent
failure mechanisms, just behind PTTL (poorly tinned toroid leads).  In case
of a problem, it is wise to check soldering, then check soldering and
finally, check soldering.
