    Any degaussing tool will do the job.  These things used to be 
standard items in stereo shops for degaussing tape heads.  These are 
likely still available.   Larger ones were available for degaussing TV 
screens.  The latter are not around much anymore.  The principle is 
simple: an alternating current in a coil produces a constantly changing 
(reversing) magnetic field.  Bring it close to the item to be 
demagnetized and let it scramble the fero-molecular alignment of the 
item.  Then (and this is important) remove the degausser's alternating 
field slowly, or you can leave the item with the residual magnetism of 
the last state of proximity.
