Revision 1.2 of the KXAT1 ATU firmware is now available. (The KXAT1 is the
internal automatic antenna tuner for our KX1 transceiver.)

Rev. 1.2 adds manual receive-signal peaking capability to the ATU. There are 32
manual settings, providing enough resolution to bring a wide range of
random-length antennas approximately into resonance. This feature is useful for
maximizing received signal strength anywhere in the rig's VFO tuning range
without transmitting. Resonating the antenna in the band of interest can also
help reject strong out of band signals. Manual peaking is especially appropriate
for the KX1, since the rig covers many popular SWL band segments in the 5-16 MHz
range.

The selected manual setting will persist even if the KX1 is turned off. These
settings are not stored on a per-band basis, however, and if you return the ATU
to TUN mode, the network settings from the most recent auto-tune on each band
will be restored. Manual settings should not be used for transmit purposes; the
normal auto-tune method has much finer resolution.

See our web site for ordering information ($19 plus shipping). Revision 1.2 is
already shipping with new KXAT1 kits.

We'd like to thank Bruce Prior, N7RR, for suggesting this feature.
