I didn't try it either, but my idea for a K2 speaker is as follows: 
mount a small speaker to the front of an EC2 as a tweeter, and a much 
larger one to the top as a woofer.  This would allow the directional 
highs to come right at the operator (a problem with the existing 
top-mounted K2 speaker) while providing a good low-frequency response 
from the top speaker.  It would probably be necessary to include an 
amplifier and a simple crossover network.
