[Elecraft] even more data on e42 problem

i checked the vfo freq..

and here's what i get.. the lower end is 2930

when i try to find the upper end..

i get an e42 error as soon as i get to 3036..

then it goes into e42 or crazy number mode..

when i first built and aligned the rig.. the numbers i got for the vfo ends 
were:

2905 and 3082..

i am now getting 2930 at one end.. and all the way up to 3036 at around 
five turns..

or halfway there..

somehow, the vfo freq isn't right.. the span is all messed up..

can someone give me some clues as to what to check next?
