[Elecraft] help! persistent e42 problem..

i am having a persistent e42 problem that i need help on..

it seems to show up off and on.. and i just can't figure out how to fix it..

i have resoldered all the vfo section leads... resoldered the front plate 
connector..

and massively resoldered L1..

it seemed to be linked to running the radio on a power supply, but it did 
it again today.. i have to take it all apart to fix it..

anyway...

here's what i was doing..

i have been having a drifting problem on 30m...

i flicked on 30m.. and found that it does drift about 200hz in about five 
minutes for the first few minutes or so...

after that, it seems rock solid on receive..

then, i put it on transmit, and sent cq's for about five minutes... just 
let it run in beacon mode.. to see if after five minutes or so, it would 
stop drifting..

after about three minutes of this.. it dropped into e42 mode..

is there anything else i need to be checking?

should i start thinking about making that signal tracer and doing that?
