My first kit was a Heath DX-40 in 1958 when I had pretty good (younger)
eyes. My KX1 was a really good challenge with my tri-focals and a hand
magnifying glass to read part numbers and check for solder bridges. I'm
amazed at the capability of machines to stamp the tiny part numbers on the
tiny components, especially the little glass diodes. Some of those guys I
could barely read with a pretty high magnifying glass. I quickly understood
why the instructions cautioned you not to mix up the parts out of the bags
until you were ready for them.
