You are so right!  I'm a software developer who works in an area far 
removed from ham radio.  Over the years I've developed a great deal of 
admiration for the folks who actually try to make money selling software 
to hams, who mostly believe that all software is air and should be free.

Free software is great (I wrote a bunch of it for the Sinclair QL, if 
anyone remembers that), but it only flourishes in special situations, 
when the authors can take time from their day jobs.
