Hi out there,
first of all, this is my setup:
K2 2360 (Rev. B upgraded, F/W 2.03d) with KPA-100 (F/W 1.06) in external
EC-2 enclosure (together with KAT-100) connected to a TL-922 PA via the
KPA-100 key output. My KPA-100 has the shield without grounding. I didn't
order the upgrade, as my KPA-100 is in the external box and thus cannot
interfere with the K2. I may be wrong ... ?
My Problem:
On about 70% of all R/T switchovers all is fine. The sequencing for the PA
keying just works perfectly.
But it seems on about 30% of the R/T switchovers the TL-922 takes a bit
longer to switch over. This causes my KPA-100/KAT-100 to see a short
"burst" of infinite VSWR which is displayed on the LED indicator. On most
bands this doesn't cause a problem, as the K2 accepts this without
reducing power. Great! The Kenwood TS-950 uses to reduce power to 20 W and
needs some 2 s to come back to full power. Grrr...
However, on some bands (e.g. 20 m) I hear a short buzz in the speaker and
K2 output power is reduced to exactly zero! And power stays on zero (even
after T/R and R/T switchover) until I turn the power knob. I doesn't
matter how much I turn the knob. Just as soon as K2 detects the turn it
sets power back to the indicated level.
Does anyone else here know this problem? How to overcome?
Is this power-off an intended feature under certain conditions?
I know the TL-922 is quite old and is one of the very slow guys in the
world of PAs, hi. But maybe there is a way around.
And one more question:
Does the sequencing affect the length of my first dit or dah, how long is
the delay between PA key closure and start of actual transmit ?
Thanks to All for help ...
