[Elecraft] Power up display problem K2... Help

Just last night I applied power for the first time to my K2. No smoke or anything catastrophic. It's just that every time I press the +BAND (or indeed any other function) I get P14.8 appearing on the display. This is with the POWER set at minimum. If I turn the POWER control up I then get SPD reading increasing as I advance. I have emailed ELECRAFT but am just wondering if anybody else encountered this problem and what the problem turned out to be? Otherwise continuity and all other function tests appear ok.
