Only if active, variable gain, electronics was added for the
microprocessor to control. There's more to it than just programming the
microprocessor. The current design switches a resistor in and out of
the circuit to change the gain by loading the mic. To get the
electronic equivalent of a pot, one would need to vary the bias of some
electronic element. There are several good ways to do that, but none of
them are free. :)
