[Elecraft] SideTone On affects CW

My name is Clarke Cooper - K8BP  and have just completed my Elecraft K2  #03850 and am now waiting to receive the KAT2 Internal Tuner.

In the meantime, I put my  K2 on the air in CW Mode on 40 Meters and  I received reports that my CW signal was not normal.

I then checked my CW signal using my other transceiver, it sounded like my signal was FM ing.

Just by accident, I found out that I could Turn Off my Sidetone in my speaker or earphones by performing the following keystrokes.
  EDIT , DISPLAY, selecting STL   036, move the chevrons under 036 by taping MENU and then hold  the DISPLAY Key for a second.

I noticed that when my Sidetone was turned off   (not adjusted to 000)   my CW Signal became normal. 

By using the same keystrokes I could turn the sidetone back on. And my CW sounded like it was FMing again.

Has anyone experienced this same problem and if so does anyone know how to correct the problem.
