Are you sure the KX1 works that way?  I don't have a KX1 manual, but I think
the KX1 sidetone is generated by the MPU, and *not* by having the receiver
sense the transmitted signal as is done in many rigs (which would make the
offfset and the sidetone the same automatically).  If that is true, then the
MPU would also have to control the BFO frequency to adjust the BFO whenever
the sidetone is changed.  I don't think that happens in the KX1.  I *know*
it doesn't happen that way in the K1, but I may be wrong about how the KX1
works...it may be more sophisticated than I realized.
