Oops. Sorry if this is a dupe. I've changed my Email address, and had
to put the old one back temporarily and forgot to put it back. (They
both go to the same place...)
So I got new toys!
First: Jack's working out the accessibility features for the KRC2 so
the K2 will have an eyes-free readout. I get to play with it
now...think it's nearly ready...and it's great! We can read the menus!
And unlike other radios, we do get the menu text and not something we
have to cross-reference (like, say, the Kenwood radios). Fantastic
job! And the feedback is nice. Concise, readable, very usable. Now we
can operate our K2's and not have to guess at what they're
doing...almost everything will read back (don't think that VOX on/off
will, nor do I think that turning on and off the QSK in cw mode...and
frequency lock won't...but everything else seems to!) This is a great
leap forward!
Ah. And then! I got my KX1 back from surgery! It's a great little
radio and looks like it's shipshape now! KX1 #364 is alive and well
and on my desk. While I made a couple QSO's on it when I got it the
first time...it wasn't quite right with itself, but now it is. And my
first QSO since its return? EA8/DL3KVR (wherever in Spain he is). Not
too bad, and a fairly decent signal report, all things considered.
I is a happy piggie!
Thanks Bill, both for working out this KX1 for me and for redirecting
my misdirected KRC2 :)
