Dear Eric and Wayne,
I want to say thanks to all the folks at Elecraft. I recently returned =
from 5 weeks in Tanzania. I was able to obtain a license there with the =
call 5H9PD. I took along the K2/100 and a fiberglass fishing pole which =
supported my 40-10 vertical antenna. The vertical was mounted on a =
corrugated tin roof which served very well as the ground plane.
The K2 survived the whole trip without any problem. That is saying a =
lot. The K2 was relatively pampered during the first part of the trip =
since it was in the luggage hold of the airlines. The real test came =
during the 10 hour trip overland from Nairobi, Kenya to Mwanza, =
Tanzania. Very rough and tumble roads really tested the K2 and the =
integrity of my teeth. We all arrived intact. The K2 performed =
flawlessly for the next 4.5 weeks and handled the pile-ups with no =
problem. I made almost 2100 contacts during the periods I was able to =
get some air-time. =20
I hope to be back in Tanzania within the year and K2/100, Serial No. =
257, will definitely come along as I once again activate 5H9PD.
Thanks for a great rig in a compact package that travels very well.
73,
Pat W8FV, 5H9PD
