Cw becomes difficult to copy at high speeds because of the Haas Effect. =
The ear can hear the dits at high speeds, but the brain (in 90% of =
people) interprets it as an echo when durations get short. Most people =
will mush out by 60 wpm some as early as 40. those who can copy above =
these speeds actually have abnormal brain response to hearing. =20

You can beat this by tuning to a pitch above 1,500 cycles where the echo =
suppressor is inactive. I have done this myself and found 75 wpm board =
sent Cw materialized in my mind (what there is of it) like someone =
speaking, but the piercing shreak was so unpleasant that I didn't bother =
for long! That old military op who thought he was copying clix was =
actually copying at a high enough tone to dodge the echo-suppressor.

P.S. Military ops were taught to copy code differently. They frequently =
typed the message, but had to read it afterward to know what was sent. =
They were copying with the spinal column, not the language center of the =
brain. It was good for what they were doing, but not for what we do.
