Well, it was bound to happen sooner or later (because of me, not my K2) I
put an amplified D104 on my K2 and made several ssb QSOs over the last
couple of days. Power settings between 10 and 15 watts. I got very good
audio reports from all. Today on 2 meters a friend needed to check out his
mic on 80m and I meet him there, heard him calling me, but when I went back
to him, the receive dropped but no power out. I checked everything I could
think of but have not been able to get it going again.
I have tried another mic that I have used on the K2 before with same no
power results. I hooked up another HF rig on same freq and when I PTT it
knows the K2 is trying. I am not sure if it is picking up some signal
directly from inside the K2 or I am putting out a very weak signal. I
noticed later on that when I tried to transmit with 4 or 5 watts, I seemed
to get a short signal out, but it faded away quickly.
CW still works as always. I can put 15 watts out on most bands if I want to.
SSB receive is as good as ever. I think God is trying to tell me CW is
better than SSB, but I just can't stand it not working even if I never use
it again.:)
I'd like the answer to be a setting I bumped by mistake....any ideas?
