[Elecraft] Stealth! (was: net report...)

That's why I didn't try that in an "attic dipole" where I was working to
make the run as straight as possible AND keep the antenna as far from
electrical wiring, duct work, etc.=20

To me, simpler meant MUCH easier to install and worked very well too. A
center fed "doublet" using a single wire with stealthy open wire lines =
to
the ATU at the operating desk. In apartments, the holes required for my
homebrew open wire line (two white wires running down the wall) were =
very
tiny. Two small holes made with an ice pick near the junction of the =
ceiling
and the wall above the operating position. One wire through each hole
running down the wall to the ATU.=20

Easy to fill in when we left. Not really visible even if we forgot.=20

One time I did run out of time before the movers arrived and ended up =
simply
cutting off my "feeders" at the ceiling and patching the two tiny holes.
I've always wondered what a maintenance guy fixing a duct or something =
in
that apartment attic would think finding a full-sized 40 meter dipole
carefully installed just below the roof line. It is in Capitola just a =
mile
or so from Aptos, too, so maybe they'll blame it on Elecraft <G>.=20

Jim and all,

A parallel dipole will work fine, but ...

The ends should be separated from the 40 meter dipole. The more =
separation
the better. Interaction on 20 meters can be expected if the wires are
parallel and closely spaced and tuning it on 20 will drive one crazy,
however 40 meters will not suffer much de-tuning. Been there, done that.
