True about coax losses not being a big deal at moderate VSWR's, but this
antenna will show VERY HIGH SWR's to coax on some frequencies.=20

For example, that 1/2 wave on 40 being used on 20 will show an SWR =
greater
than 100:1 for 50 or 75 ohm line! Even open wire is lossy at that SWR!
However a 450 ohm line - two open wires a couple of inches apart are in =
that
range - has an SWR below 20:1 across the entire range of 7 through 21 =
MHz.
Indeed, it's about 5:1 on 40, 15 and 10 meters and hits about 15:1 on =
20.=20

Much better, both in terms of ability to affect a match and in =
minimizing
the losses in the line.=20

Also, two small wires the same color as the wall attached to it and =
running
down from the ceiling are, in my experience, a lot less visible than a
length of coax.=20

...The virtues of open wire feeders are vastly over-rated. 1/4" coax,
whether RG8X or RG59, has a lot less loss than is generally believed =
unless
the VSWR is extremely high. Look at the data and see the curves in the =
ARRL
Antenna Book for loss with VSWR as compared with matched loss.=20
