Subject: keyer problem etc
Re my K2, S/N 4023.=20
I finished building my K2 and have some problems. I can receive on 20 =
meters, the sensitivity seems just fine. I haven't tried the =
sensitivity on other bands as I only have a 20 M dipole up.=20
On page 45 Audio amplifier and tone generator test. I have set up the =
tone generator and can hear and control the tones as per the =
instructions. For the keyer test on the second column, of page 45, =
I've set up the keyer using PDL n and checked for dots and dashes with =
my iambic paddle. I do not hear any sidetones, nor dots and dashes. I =
have reloaded all the default parameters as per the instructions in the =
advanced settings, no change. The keyer speed knob on the front panel =
operate correctly. =20
I did not check this step earlier as I had no keyer until today. I have =
checked the voltages from the keyer jack. they are at nominally 5 VDC =
and both sides dots and dashed go to zero independently when the key =
levers are pressed. I have traced the key lines to U1 on the control =
board, pins 29 and 30. They seem to be OK. Speaking about U1, =
measuring the voltages on each pin, I found two variances from the =
voltages on Page 15 of the manual. Pin 25 is supposed to be 0 VDC, but =
it is 5 VDC, and pin 33 is supposed to be 5 VDC but it is nearly 0 VDC =
( there are narrow positive pulses on this line) . =20
Other items,=20
The TUNE button on the front panel does not turn on the transmitter. I =
get NO power output. I also get no power output when I try and key the =
K2 with the keyer. =20
Any ideas?
