thank you for the replies!

in fac, this is a very quiet radio.  i did 2 things last night. =20

1. not having an hf antenna, i just put the lead for my dvm up to the =
center pin of the bnc connector.  on 40M i was listening to all of the =
am broadcast qrm, and also heard some cw down at the low end.  not bad =
for a 3' piece of wire.  the noise level from the short antenna was =
roaring!

2. now that i had broadband noise i went and tried filter alignment with =
spectragram.  what a great use for a computer!  i can't wait to finish =
my ssb adapter and tune that filter too.

p.s. i haven't operated hf in many years.  i may be getting the bug to =
try qrp cw!
