What you[re probably (not) hearing is the fact that the K2 has probably the 
LOWEST background noise of ANY radio on the market today! That's why it's 
so damn good at hearing weak signals. No background noise to get in the way.

Put an antenna on it.. if you can THEN hear signals (and maybe a bit of 
noise to boot) with the AF Gain turned down quite a bit (maybe 1/4 to 1/3 
scale) then everything's A-OK.
