[Elecraft] k2 audio power output

All,

I just finished my cw k2 and have not yet added any options.  during the =
40m rx test i heard some nice stuff with a dipole stretched out on my =
floor.

i normally operate vhf -> microwaves, so i don't have hf antennas yet.

now that my k2 is working and making power on tx, i am listening with no =
antenna.  i need to crank the volume 3/4 of the way to hear good =
background noise power.

is this normal?  will signals blow through the rig?  ( iwas impressed =
with the filters on the 40m test)
