[Elecraft] Suggestions for a New Kit Builder

Hi

I have answered this question several times before and I still think it =
is valid. The OHR WM-2 QRP watt meter is a great little kit for about =
$90. You get to solder, do mechanical assembly and even wind a toroid. =
When finished you have a useful piece of test equipment that makes =
alignment of your K2 easier. Also any of the Elecraft mini kits are good =
to start with. I would build the DL1 dummy load first followed by the =
N-gen noise generator and then the XG1 low level signal generator and =
receiver calibrator. You can build all three for a little over $100 and =
it should not require more than a couple of hours each to build and test =
them. If you check back through the archives of this reflector you will =
find good suggestions on tools and equipment you may want to get to help =
with the building.

  Subject: [Elecraft] Suggestions for a New Kit Builder

  Hello,

  I just passed the Technician exam today, but my long term goal is to =
at=20
  least make it to General class so I can operate on HF. I'm also very=20
  interested in kit building, but I don't want to start out with =
something=20
  as elaborate as an Elecraft kit. Can somone provide me with the names =
of=20
  some good starter kits? They don't have to be specific to Amateur =
Radio.=20
  I just want to gain some experience with kit building, before tackling =

  something like a K2.

  Thanks in advance.
