[Elecraft] solder

Hi,
 I guess I should have asked this question first, but here goes.

I just bought a pound of multi-core lead solder 83/37 I think. Does Elecraft
have any negative things to say regarding using this stuff on their rigs??

I avoid "bargain" solders.  Just use Multicore.  You DO get what you pay
for.
RMA may mean "mildly active" flux, but have never heard of that vendor as a
maker of electronic solders.  I "think" Mildly Active flux was not the best
for electronics kits.   There are application notes on the big manufacturers
web sites, Kester for one, and they may include flux designations.

Avoid using it for electronics, or test it.   Solder up some copper wire to
a copper sheet and leave it around in a moist environment like a bathroom or
laundry room.   See if in a month you have any green or other color
corrosion at the joint.  That may mean, (if no color) that it is acceptable.

Most bargain solders do not have uniform flux in a single core, or the tin
content is lacking, and the overall wetting ability is impaired, and the
ease of getting a good joint.
