Hi
Be careful with analog meters like the Simpson 260, Triplett meters or =
copies of them. The ohms ranges use a high voltage battery for all of =
the upper ranges and a 1.5 volt D cell for the lowest ohms range. The =
high voltage battery is usually a 15 or 22.5 volt battery but I think I =
remember seeing a 67.5 volt battery in some meter I worked on years ago. =
The upper ranges could damage some semiconductor circuits by exceeding =
their breakdown voltage or the low ohms range could damage the circuit =
by passing too much current through the circuit. DVM's limit the current =
to about 1 mA and the voltage is around 3 or less volts on the ohms =
ranges.

Snip
You could also blow the dust off ye olde analogue VOM.
