[Elecraft] DSP U2 tab soldering?

Greetings:
	In the DSP U2 tab soldering step (last step on page 8 of the
instructions), the statement "and DO NOT solder near the mounting hole"
appears. Does that mean inside the hole or does that mean on the outside
edge of the tab nearest the hole. When I laid the tip of my iron along
the tab to transfer more heat to it than the tip point alone, solder
wicked to make a bridge between the tab and the small square structure
on the PCB below the tab. Do I need to remove that solder?
