The unused J5 slot on the RF board has exatly the same PD1 and PD2 signals
as the ones used for the KAF2/KDSP2 on the control board.  You would likely
have an easier time mounting an auxiliary board to J5 on the RF board - plus
there are no current conflicts.

I think that a better solution is to use the J1 and J2 connectors on the
K2 Control Board as basis, because there signals PD1 and PD2 are present
(output from the Product Detector), and also 12V and Ground. One can
then create a small PCB with a LM380 and a couple of discrete
components, including a trimpot to set the level and mount it all using
the J1 connector.
