[Elecraft] MH-2 Resistor

Hi
The resistor is normally in the little coin envelope with all of the =
jumper blocks. The value should not be very critical. Use something =
close maybe 4.7k to 10k should work. The TenTec mike I used on the K2 =
before I got a MH2 had a 10k and it worked fine. You can mount the =
resistor in the connector but the microphone case is a little difficult =
to reassemble plus I am not sure the +5 volt is brought into the mike =
case by the cable. It could be, I just have never checked that. I =
usually install the resistor per the manual but if you have several =
mikes it would be better to install it in the connector so the resistor =
will not bias a dynamic mike if you are using one.

Subject: [Elecraft] MH-2 Resistor
My MH-2 microphone arrived without the 5.6k resistor. No problem, I
thought, I have a great selection of resistors. However no 5.6k. If
anyone at Elecraft is reading, don't bother sending a replacement. I
will figure something out.
I also will probably want to mount the resistor in the microphone
connector rather than the back of the jack on the front panel board.
So, two questions:
1) What is the range of resistance that is acceptable for the
microphone? I could build a close value out of a couple of resistors.
2) Is it possible to locate the resistor in the microphone case itself
rather than the connector? I have seen the caution about opening the
microphone and didn't want to open it to take a peak for fear I would
not get it back together.
