[Elecraft] KAT2 and K60XV interaction

Hi

More in the K60XV and KAT2

I have been experimenting with different values of R6 on the KAT2. The =
problem disappears at about 270 ohms. I have gone as high as 1K with no =
real problems so I am going with 470 ohm. With this resistor the =
transverter output is reading properly. With the limit set to 1.00 mw I =
can adjust the reading on the K2 display from 0 to 0.98 mw. The scope =
reads 625 mv pk to pk and this calculates out to 0.98 mw into 50 ohms. I =
then connected up the wattmeter (WM-2) to the KAT2 to see if it still =
worked the same. After a tweak of the calibration it seems to work =
normally. So this seems to correct the problem. I got an email from =
Wayne stating an increase in the value of R6 would not hurt anything as =
long as the KAT2 power meter is still accurate. My experimenting shows =
the meter to be accurate in both power and SWR functions so I am going =
to install the 470 ohm resistor at R6 on the KAT2 board and put =
everything back together.=20

Now all I need to do is install the 60 meter mods in the KPA100 and =
upgrade the firmware on the KAT100.=20

As soon as I get a 1800 pf cap from Elecraft for the KPA100 I will be =
able to finish the K2/100 I am building for sale. This is a new radio =
built for sale and it has all of the most current mods and firmware =
including the K60XV and Elecraft rear panel/heatsink with the =
transverter connectors. It also has KSB2, KAF2, KNB2, K160RX and KPA100 =
with new firmware and 60 meter mods. It also includes an Elecraft MH2 =
hand mike. The catalog price for the above is $1367 I normally get $700 =
to build all of the above and I have over $150 in firmware upgrades and =
mod kits not including the labor to install them. Price is $1995 shipped =
insured con US by UPS. As always I include a 90 day warranty on labor =
not including shipping. If you do not want the 100 watt option subtract =
$560.

I have built 14 K2's to date including Eric's demo unit and Wayne's =
personal radio. The demo unit is the one you see at the Ham Shows. I =
also build all required power and I/O cables for the radio.

Subject: [Elecraft] KAT2 and K60XV interaction

  Hi

  I have a split K2/KPA100/KAt100 that I have been installing the 60 =
meter/transverter interface. Every thing seems to work except when I =
connect the KAT2. I am setting up the transverter interface for a 1.00 =
mw max output as described in the manual. If the KAT2 is disconnected =
then everything works per the manual. When the KAT2 is connected the =
output level indicated on the K2 display will only go up to .6 mw. =
Looking at the KAT2 it appears the SWR bridge circuit is loading the =
VRFDET line. I have another K2/100 that I am building for sale, also =
with the K60XV installed. When connecting the KAT2 to this radio I have =
the same problem so the problem is in the KAT2. I am tempted to increase =
the value of R6 on the KAT2 but would like some direction from Elecraft =
This KAT2 works otherwise and I upgraded the firmware to the latest =
version but this had no change on the problem. Is anyone out there using =
the transverter interface and the KAT2 in their K2 and noticed this =
problem?
