I was using the K2/100 at full power. Cdx were punk on 20 for short skip
here in Oregon. Being Easter Sunday, I was home and tried to check in, =
but
the only signals above the noise were AA3WF and NE5DL. At one point I =
heard
Mychael say "1 up" so I followed and found him in a short QSO with Dave.
When they were done also had a brief QSO with Mychael, but that was it.=20

One thing that I think would help that we used to do with Army nets is =
for
NCS to make a long (5 minute at least) CQ ECN before the net starts. =
Just a
constant CQ ECN with the NCS call thrown in at regular intervals and =
maybe
"QND at 2300" at intervals to show that it is a directed net at when it =
will
commence for those who stumble across the call. That allows everyone to =
find
the net (especially since it may not be on the exact frequency) and =
"holds"
the chosen frequency until the start.=20

One time before when I was available on a Sunday afternoon, I actually =
got
into a QSO with several stations looking for the net several kHz away =
for
some time before we found the NCS.=20
