There actually is very little communications of interest on the AuxBus.
Most of the information the KRC2 uses comes over the serial port.

Presumably you are using an 8-conductor (plus shield) cable between the
two boxes?

It might be easier to fashion a "Y" cable that routes the appropriate
signals from the KPA/KAT100 to the KRC2. The central node of the 'Y'
would be at the KPA/KAT100, of course.

You already have it. Just operate the KRC2 in Kenwood/serial port mode.
The disadvantage is that you lose XVTR control capabilities and the
information delivery is slightly slower since the KRC2 has to wait for
the K2 to output the frequency over the serial port. But, it works
quite well!
