[Elecraft] How to get your own board trace images

You are pointing out one of the issues with that sort of illustration in =
the
existing manuals. Bitmaps get huge, and Wayne and Eric have wanted the
manuals "downloadable" on-line as needed.=20

A vector diagram would be small, but it not a trivial exercise to create =
one
of the traces that everyone could view. In the Elecraft manuals I've =
worked
on, a lot of time was spent juggling file size with image quality in the
photos and other illustrations to keep the image quality high and the =
file
size as small as possible. Even so the KX1 manual is nearly 4 megabytes! =
=20

I agree that board trace diagrams are an excellent idea, but it's not as
trivial to implement as it might seem at first.=20

After all, these are not "Heathkit" manuals that you get printed once =
with
the kit, and if you need more information or another copy you send $10 =
to
the factory and wait a few weeks...

Followed on with that idea by scanning the K2 RF board from my newly =
arrived

K2 kit on my PC scanner. In color with 400dpi and the image cropped to =
size,

the .bmp file size is about 29Mb for this board. Saved as an =
uncompressed
.jpg=20
file at about 7.5Mb for each side of the board.
