[Elecraft] DSP Unit and PSK31 and other digital modes

In my limited PSK experience I have to agree with some of Roberts comments -
the noise reduction on the DSP has limited positive effect - I find using a
narrow CW IF filter much more effective at picking out weak signals as this
is in the AGC loop. I use the fine RIT function (in the back of the manual)
which allows a quick switch between wide and narrow filters but you have a
limited range of audio frequencies to use as the passband of the narrow
filter is not easily moved mid QSO. I set a marker in MixW to show the
centre of the narrow filter and then use the mouse wheel to tune the signal
to within the narrow range. A quick press of the XFIL button then takes out
everything more than a few hundred hertz away. Hope this was useful!

Paul Fletcher
