[Elecraft] Another K2 rcvr going temporarily deaf

Since the subject came up, I'll mention my K2's type of deafness (this is K2
#917 and it has most CW-related upgrades). When it happens, the rig's audio
output begins to decrease. It is sort of slow, taking 3, 4, 5 seconds to become
fairly faint, sometimes almost inaudible. But I can 'correct' the problem by
turning the volume up gradually. While doing that, at some point the weak but
increasingly strong audio will make an odd popping or puffing sound, almost like
a bubble bursting, and the audio will instantly be fine.
It happens only after the rig is warmed up & not every day. But some days it
happens 5 or more times. The gap between 'events' can be minutes or hours.
It doesn't appear to be related to wind & it seems to happen on any band, 40M to
10M (the only ones I operate on).
I've been ignoring it because it almost never causes me to lose a QSO. And,
truth be told, because I am a klutz with a soldering iron.
Any ideas?
Thanks very much in advance,
Max, k0max
