Hello Group!
Just wanted to introduce myself now that I'm a fellow Elecraft owner.
K2 #3765 was waiting in the mailbox this evening! With KDSP2, KSB2,
KNB2, K160RX. That should keep me busy for quite a while, I'll save the
Amp and other goodies for later!
I've been "readin' the mail" here for a while. Long enough to become
very impressed with Elecraft, its products, and also with this group and
its' many talented members.
I have recently upgraded to General and my first HF rig is an FT-897.
It's a decent portable rig. But, I want to see what a really great RX is
like. Additionally, I'm also interested in upholding some of the
traditions of amateur radio, such as, actually melting some solder, and
becoming proficient with CW (not even close yet). I came close to
spending my hard earned bucks on an FT-1000mp. But it seems more like
"doin' the right thing" to build my own and buy American. Also, I think
small hard working service oriented companies like Elecraft deserve the
support of Hams.
I have tried, over the last couple of years, to collect some equipment
and supplies so I can do a proper job building the K2 and future
projects.
I have collected; (start brag)
Fluke 111 DMM
Weller WTCPT soldering station
1 Lb Roll of Kester #44 solder, 62/36/02, .020 Dia, Core 66
Wideband Noise generator
HP 8640b Signal Generator
HP 400EL AC Voltmeter / db scale
Tektronix 2445 150Mhz Scope w/ 10x Probes.
B+K Precision 3001 audio generator
HP355 C, and D step attenuators
Panavise w/ circuit board vise attachment
ESD wrist strap
I'm building the hybrid combiner out of the ARRL handbook
I recently built the HFPacker Amp project as a spool up to the K2
project.
(end brag)
Still lacking a voltage reg and current limiting PS.
Maybe a Spectrum Analyzer someday when I win the lottery!
And need to download Spectogram, Right?
Some of it may be overkill, but, anything missing guys?
I'm excited to finally get started on a K2, and honored to be in the
company of you great folks. Thanks for all the great previous posts that
helped me in my decision about purchasing a K2.
Hopefully I can learn a bit more here in the building process and begin
to contribute to the list.
73 all,
