Was outside washing down the house. Wanted to listen to a 40 mtr net
while doing it. Saw a piece of twin lead and another piece of wire
coiled up on the picnic table. Rolled them out. Stepped them off. Twin
lead about 45 ft. Wire about 30 ft. Twisted the leads of the twin lead
together at each end. Soldered a PL-259 on one end and string on the
other. threw the string over a tree limb and pulled it up. Brought the
K2/100, KAT100 and ps outside. Put the K2 in a chair, attached the
30ft wire to the ground lug and hooked everything else up. Took about
20 minutes start to finish. Finished the house about noon.

Then I sat down to play. Worked a bunch of stations for the Texas QSO
party on 40. Then went up to 20, 17, 15 12, and 10 meters. Worked
several stateside stations plus Venezuela, Aland Is, Svalbard, Japan,
Costa Rica, and Jamaica. Then came back down to 75 meters this evening
and worked a few stations until the misquitos ran me in.

I am impressed. Impressed with the "junk" antenna, and with the
Elecraft setup. How fortunate we are to have people like Wayne, Eric,
and the Elecraft Team to provide us with such great products and
service.

Man, what a fun day this has been.
