[Elecraft] Way WAY OT: Atomic Time ET-31B clock performance

Yeah, I know this doesn't have much to do with Elecraft radios, but I'm asking
because I've always had good luck here with even the stupidest questions I
care to come up with.

I received an Atomic Time ET-31BD digital radio controlled clock as a gift,
but I'll be dog-goned if I can get the thing to receive WWVB for love or
money.
I sent it back for repair/replacement, but the manufacturer verified it was
working just fine. In case you're curious about what the clock looks like,
go to

On to my question. This is a REALLY nice clock with big honking digits
that even I can see across the room. I'd really like to see if I can get it
to
work. I've tried all the usual stuff like putting in fresh batteries,
positioning
it away from radios and computers, putting it in the window. Nada. In all
fairness, I live just outside NYC, so the reception is probably getting kind
of marginal, even though I own a Junghan's atomic watch that synchronizes
just fine. Has anyone out there atempted to directly or inductively couple
some sort of external antenna to one of these little beasties?

Any input would be muchly appreciated.

Thanks in advance and 73,

Bob WA4FOM
