[Elecraft] Question for VK owners

David,
Strictly speaking the K2 is dutiable although the rate is not high, about 3%
I believe, however once duty is levied GST is also applied which, as you
know is 10%.
Now here is the good bit --- if your K2 comes through the normal mail system
(which it would) and providing the value does not exceed AU$1000, customs
normally does not bother with these relatively small imports and they pass
straight through the system without attracting duty or GST.
With the Oz $ presently hovering around US$0.68 and the basic K2 costing
US$599 you should be well inside the limit at approximately Oz$880 but I
wouldn't include any options with the initial purchase.The above represents
my own experience and that of friends but you never know when a public
servant may have an off day and decide to invoke the act to the letter so
please don't hold it against me if your experience should differ.
Even with duty and GST it's a bargain --- go for it, you won't regret it.
