Hello, fellow Elecrafters.
I've been lurking for a while, and was going to wait until I'd got K2 #3741
well underway before making my first post, but I saw this thread about AA
cell performance, and pricked up my ears (I'm a digital camera user, and
always on the lookout for that extra bit of capacity!)
So, guys (& gals): Has anyone this side of the pond (UK) done anything
similar for assessing the performance of the AA NiMh cells available over
here? My only experiences have been with using 'Vanson' branded 1800mAh,
'Uniross' branded 1700mAh, and 'Olympus Camedia' branded 1700mAh cells in a
variety of power-hungry items (digital camera, 144MHz handheld, GPS,
etc). My (purely subjective) feelings are that the Olympus's perform best
(i.e. last longest), with the Uniross' coming in second. I use a Uniross
'intelligent' fast charger for the Uniross's and the Vanson's, and the
supplied Olympus charger for the Olympus's - maybe there's a story there?
Could I be charging the Vanson's _too_ fast?
Anyway, I look forward to any comments/suggestions, and I'm now going back
to stuffing my control board!
Regards
