G'day,

Been down memory lane again.  The "Falkland Islands Broadcast Station" used
to transmit a midwinter request show to the British Antarctic bases on
2370kHz.  Parents, girlfriends, that sort of thing.  It naturally fell to me
(comms) to pipe this from the radio shack to the base lounge (Adelaide
Island base).  The receivers were Racal RA17's and all I had available was
the 50mW (milliwatts) at 600 ohms line output.  The speaker was a 600 ohm
input box about half a cubic foot volume.  The volume filled the lounge with
ease despite a load of hairy explorers making a noise, liquid assisted.

It never failed to amaze me what a noise 50mW into that speaker could
produce.
