[Elecraft] XIT on my K2 only 600Hz...

Joe, the K2 offers true "SPLIT" operation that gives you complete =
freedom to
listen and receive on separate frequencies anywhere in a given band.
Press SPLIT to enable the mode. Whatever VFO (A or B) you are now on in
receive, the rig will switch to the OTHER VFO when you transmit. You can =
tap
A/B to change VFO's manually.=20
Since it's important to check ANY frequency for a QSO or other activity =
not
related to your call (I don't consider a mob all trying to call the same
station I am 'not related to my call', but a QSO certainly is!), I set =
up to
call DX as follows:
First after tuning in the DX for reception, I hit A=3DB. That instantly =
puts
my xmit VFO on my Rx frequency. Then if he says "2U", for example, I tap =
A/B
and tune up 2 kHz. If there is anything going on there I make sure it's =
just
the mob trying to call the DX. More often if he's working someone, I'll =
zero
beat the station he's working. Then I tap A/B again and I'm back =
listening
on the original frequency and I'm set up to transmit on the frequency =
where
the DX is listening automatically. Whenever the DX ends the QSO, I can =
"tail
end" and I'm perfectly tuned into the DX stations Rx frequency.=20
If I want to "peek" at my xmit frequency at any time, I just press and =
HOLD
A/B. That switches me to my xmit frequency as long as I hold the button
down. When I release the A/B button the K2 reverts to my original =
receive
frequency instantly.
I do ALL of my operating in SPLIT in preference to fiddling with =
XIT/RIT. I
scan the bands and if I find a station I want to call or a clear =
frequency
where I want to call CQ, I just tap A=3DB and I'm set to xmit right on =
that
frequency. I can then go on to tune around with the big main tuning knob
without interfering with the xmit frequency. I like that MUCH better =
than
messing with the little RIT knob.=20

Is it possible to extend the XIT range? Tried to work some "up" dx-stns =
but
I think they usually listen at least 1 or 2 k up. My XIT only reaches
+600Hz. Can I modify for this or did I miss something?
