To: All those folks who wish to participate in ECN this coming Sunday.

Sunday at 6 PM PDT (0100z Monday) I will run the Elecraft CW Net on 20 meters at 14050 kHz. If that is busy I'll move up until I find a spot for us to use.

Please email me if you wish to act as a relay for ECN. I would like someone in the East, the Midwest, and in the Southwest to cover my blind spots. Otherwise,
since the net is directed, I will ask for help with missed check ins after each region. Please QNI by region. Last week I had a few people checking in pretty
early and it made the East Coast take a bit longer than I would have liked.

I will call by region again this week. Send your 'hail sign' please, if it is not recognized then send your entire call. I will call 1 & 2 first followed by 3 & 4. Then
8 & 9, 0 & 5, and finally 6 & 7. If I can get a relay for calling regions 6 and 7 I would appreciate it. I can't hear them very well since they are right outside my
door. After I check in any two regions I will ask if I missed anyone. This is a sticky point. How do I ask for missed QNIs and still maintain control of a directed
net? I would like to ask specific people who would be willing to act as relays. As stated above please email me if you want to act as a relay for ECN.

I would like to call for comments and contacts between each set of two regions but the net is getting a bit large for that. I am taking suggestions on how to
connect folks together who wish to contact one another. If we had another frequency nearby I could direct folks to that if they ask for a contact. I am not
sure how to run this though. More suggestions would be helpful.

I will run the net for as long as it takes and then let it go free. Please stick around for this period of the net to exchange what ever information you wish. The
first part of the net will allow you to determine who you can hear. Hopefully the propagation will be reciprocal and you can contact who you hear.

Sunday at 6 PM PDT (0100z Monday) I will run the Elecraft CW Net on 20 meters at 14050 kHz. If that is busy I'll move up until I find a spot for us to use.

Please join us then.

73,
Kevin. KD5ONS (Net control operator 5th class).

Here are some comments I have received from one of my regulars:

<<<<<
The purpose of the net for me is not really to exchange personal
information, though if someone wanted to chat I am certainly up for that.
How to organize that aspect as a feature of the net is beyond me other than
to have that expressed when ops are making their comments. Do ops tend to
call and stick around until the end for this to work?

I simply like feeling a part of this net you are trying to form. I am not
much of a joiner, a sentiment I recall your having expressed a few emails
ago. The net is something I can do from home, so I can more easily fit it
into my schedule, and it appeals to me to meet some of my fellow Elecraft
builder/ops.

Now I am not sure why others are taking part. We seem to have regulars as
well as those who show up once and feel satisfied with that enough not to
bother returning. Maybe it would be a good idea to toss out a request for
info to see what various ops might find attractive abt ECN or what they
might like to see. It would be nice if we could actually handle some
traffic... Unfortunately, there really isn't much of a need for that. Maybe
it is simply enough to organize into a cohesive group that can come together
in a time of crisis. For you and for me it is certainly a learning
experience, so there is at least that aspect for some. This has to be one
large challenge for you, Kevin!

If you have any comments on what this person had to say please email me directly. I will post suggestions back to the Reflector for a vote when I've collected
a few of them. And, yes, it is a big challenge for me :) But anything worth doing normally is.
