[Elecraft] Remote Antenna Tuner

Hi Jack
Interesting idea. I did this in the past with a panel of DPDT slide
switches, patterned
on the idea described by W6RCA I believe it was. It does work to bring the
current node
to the feed location, but the ATU is still needed to match the impedance.
Since it is
resistive, more or less, the match seemed broader to me than just using the
ATU on the
untrimmed feedline.
The only drawback I found was that I had an awful lot of 300 ohm twinlead
draped around
the shack :-)

What an opportunity. Thank you!

This could be accomplished using a KRC2 to select the various relays
that accomplish the switching. The KRC2 could be located close to the
K2 and cables run to the relay box. Or, you might be able to mount the
KRC2 near the switch box and run an RS-232 cable out to it, running the
band selection function of the KRC2 in serial mode. You'd also have to
run +12V out to the KRC2 to power it.

Either way, you could certainly accomplish all you need with the KRC2.
And we have already done the PIC programming for you!
